Why did the great masters of violin play bother to write scales? And are these still suitable for use in class today? Classroom practice is no longer the same as it was in the 19th century, but intonation and sound quality are still the focus of my efforts. It is interesting to note that even as early as the 19th century educators tried to make the practice of scales more attractive - namely by adding a second violin part for the teacher as an accompaniment. In addition, I have added a rhythmic alternative with different bow strokes to each scale. This promotes the sense of rhythm and brings even more variety and fun when practicing.
